MARIBETH MOONEY

Maribeth Mooney is a comedian, actress and writer based in New York City. She appears in clubs, bars and basements in the Tri-State area.  Often doing comedy.

With a degree in Theatre from DeSales University and thousands of dollars in student loans she headed to New York City to become the next That Girl!

As an actor Maribeth has been part of almost every crowd scene filmed in NYC. Her favorite part to date was the week she spent on The Guiding Light playing a mental patient. This character got her a dressing room bigger than her first apartment in NYC as well as commissary lunches.Miss Mooney did have a featured part in Rescue Me, but by that time everyone had grown weary of all her extra and under 5 work- so only her college roommate bears testament to this role. She is the creator and host of Moons Over My Hammy at Otto’s Shrunken Head;

http://ottosshrunkenhead.com/pages/events.php a show currently running every other Wednesday and the first Friday of the month.  All the comics here perform with her on the show much to her delight.  Come see us!

Miss Mooney's essays have been published in The Rumpus and McSweeney's.

Stand-Up For Estro Cast

HELENE GRESSER

Helene has performed throughout most of the contiguous United States; mostly touring in a van, angrily driving whilst others sleep like babies. She is a graduate of two colleges, she has performed at those colleges, and she has also performed a largely foreign and unamused tourist audience in clubs hither and yon. She prefers hither. Or yon. Whichever is NYC, because NYC is home. Well, technically, Wisconsin is her home state, but if you are actually reading this far you are probably not an agent or Hal Prince or anyone who might hire me. You might be my mom if you have read this far, hoping I might thank you. Thank you, mom.

SAMANTHA DEROSE

New Jersey native Samantha DeRose got her start in comedy in 1998 as the creator / head writer for the now defunct myjobstinks.com.  Her off-the-wall horoscopes were picked in 2001 up by Texas based magazine, The Denton Scramble.  Samantha’s observational comedy style includes musings about motherhood, work, pop-culture, politics, family, and inner (self-deprecating) reflections.  You might even be sucked into a sing-along at one of her gigs if she brings her guitar.

Samantha has been performing stand-up comedy since 2009 all over the country.  She has been seen in New York City at Gotham Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, The Duplex, The Metropolitan Room, and The Stonewall Inn.  Outside of the city, Samantha has performed in clubs all over New Jersey, in Texas at The Houston Club, and at The Comedy Cabana in Myrtle Beach.

You can read Samantha’s unpublished best-selling novel, Gin & Tonic for the Bitter Soul, sequel to Do These Peanut M&Ms Make My Ass Look Fat?

As a steady fixture on the comedy scene for the past several years, Joanne Filan consistently delivers a unique blend of random thoughts, quirky observations, and a stream of consciousness that leaves audiences anxious to hear what on earth she will say next.

Performing at well-known clubs like The Friars Club, Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline’s, The Laugh Factory, and New York Comedy Club, she even reaches the masses through her television appearances including Here TV's Hot Gay Comics. Joanne continues to educate in her own way by performing at colleges and universities such as Bryn Mawr, Lehigh, Monmouth University and more.  She has even spoken at creative writing classes at St. John’s University – ensuring her creativity will go on, despite any side effects.

Joanne's trademark style wins over audiences with ease. Whether it is a story, a sudden tangent, or an impromptu exchange with an audience member, crowds learn quickly that anything is possible.

AND AARON SWEENEY

Growing up in Northern New England in the 1980's, Aaron Sweeney was not like other boys. Dressing his transformers in his lesbian sister's Barbie clothes, baking lemon chiffon pie in his sister's Easy Bake Oven, and putting on puppet dinner-theater were among Aaron's favorite pastimes.

Then high school came along and Aaron got in with the wrong crowd. Aaron was swept into the dark and dangerously seductive world of Star Trek and science fiction. Unable to cope with the pressures of life in the fast-lane, Aaron did the only thing he could do: move to San Francisco and attend art school.

Then came stand-up and "Access of Evil", a critically acclaimed public access show Aaron wrote/produced/directed/starred in. It wasn't until late 2007 that Aaron finally realized his life's ambition: to wait tables and do stand-up comedy in NYC.

Aaron is proud to be representing the Y-chromosome at the 2011 EstroGenius Festival.
